Triggers for Change
▪ There was a need to set up all Corporate Finance Systems, including: installation, and app migration
▪ There was a need to skill up a team of people to manage the implemented systems
▪ Data needed to be cleansed of all parent company data
▪ “Stub” period income and expenditure had to be calculated and
apportioned to each company.
Roger and his team were responsible for the creation of the new Corporate Finance Systems (CFS) in their entirety.
This included:
Infrastructure:
• The standing up of all infrastructure for the corporate finance systems
• The installation and configuration of all consolidation, performance management and analytical software.
Applications:
• All existing applications needed to be migrated
• The cleansing of all parent company data from the applications was carried out
• The creation of a stub reporting Essbase cube to calc the stub allocations (Transaction completed on 5th of the month)
• Development of a Master Reporting Cube to have one place for all financial data, from GL balance all the way down to transaction level data and for actuals, plans and forecasts.
Operational Process
• The complete staffing of the Corporate Finance System in the absence of internal resource
• Implementation of all close processes
• Education of the finance team globally for importing the trial balances and completing the schedules for consolidation
• Recruitment and handover to CFS internal team
• Redevelopment of Planning Application in EPBCS

Meta Data was not synchronized across all apps
Planning applications were performing slowly for loads and calcs
Users were experiencing slow response times
The applications did not reflect the current requirements of the user community
Roger and his team were responsible for the creation of a road map which has now been rolled out and is firmly in the hands of the internal Corporate Finance Systems (CFS) team.
The Plan focused on:
Data integrity and synchronization
Ensuring that the right technology was being used for the right function (e.g. Master Reporting out of Essbase, not Planning)
Ensuring that all Oracle/Hyperion software was upgraded to the latest release.
Ensuring that all aspects of the system could be owned and managed by the CFS team.

The streamlining of all applications
The creation of a proper staging area, one version of the truth plus redundancy
Development of a Master Reporting Cube to have one place for all financial data, from GL balance all the way down to transaction level data
Operational Process:
The CFS team worked along side Roger and his team implementing all aspects of the systems
Processes were designed in collaboration with the User Community the CFS team and Roger and his team.
All systems and day to day operations are now owned and maintained by the CFS team.
